Susan Matthews, a piano and voice teacher, earned a Master of Arts Degree in Voice, Music Theater, and Vocal Pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University and a Bachelor of Music Degree from Colorado State University. Twice she has traveled to Vantaa, Finland, and has received a Certificate of Observation and Study of the Suzuki Method and Philosophy at the Talent Education Institute of Singing. She has spoken at national and regional conferences addressing the subject, “Enabling the Singing Voices of Children and Youth to Develop Naturally.” She has written several articles for the American |

Claire Dering, a piano teacher and a native of Louisiana, has earned her Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. She received her Master of Music Degree from Southern Methodist University where she studied piano with Alfred Mouledous, pianist for the Dallas Symphony. Throughout her college years, she has accompanied a variety of singers, instrumentalists, and dance classes and is presently organist for St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sherman. She has been active in the community as an accompanist for the Sherman Musical Arts Singers and Music Makers, and for the annual S.M.A. Summer Choral Drama Workshop. |

Suzuki Journal, has served as Singing Coordinator on the International Committee, and in 1998 was selected into Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. Matthews has directed children’s choirs for Sherman Musical Arts, for Dallas Music, for the Suzuki Institute of Dallas, and for Suzuki Summer Music Camps at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and Park City, Utah. She has also directed adult church choirs and is the founder and director of Sherman Musical Arts Singers. She holds affiliations with the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the American Choral Directors Association. |
